Our mission is to grow women's wrestling. FEW is committed to raising awareness for the sport, inspiring Iowa's youth to participate, assisting female athletes with registration for state, national and international competitions. Several young women locally have demonstrated success in national competitions, many more are trying the sport for the first time. FEW welcomes all ages and levels of participation from the beginner to the international competitor. FEW offers scholarships for select events (clinics and tournaments) and USA Wrestling memberships.

Records on female wrestlers in Iowa are hard-to-find. Below is a list of athletes from Iowa who have achieved All-American status, wrestler of the year, wrestled collegiately or distinguished themselves in some other way. We hope to continue to fill this in.

Leadership

Female Elite Wrestling (FEW) was founded by George and Charlotte Bailey in 2012 and is a sanctioned USA Wrestling club. FEW is also incorporated as a non-profit in the state of Iowa and also the IRS. FEW provides a unique girls-only training environment where athletes can learn and have fun.

Charlotte leads FEW's outreach to families. She has focused her coaching efforts on female wrestling for the last 10 years after previously coaching youth wrestlers and gymnasts. Charlotte also serves as the women's director for Iowa/USA Wrestling. She has a background in strength/conditioning and martial arts (Taekwondo and Judo). Charlotte works full-time as a Physical Therapist.

Charlotte received the 2018 Russ Smith Community Impact Award from the National Wrestling Hall of Fame Dan Gable Museum for her valued contributions to the sport.
